Saw this movie earlier this month ( No, I did not wander off during the lockdown. It was the 1st of March to be precise, the conditions were pretty normal back then), and it is a beautiful and important film. Anubhav Sinha has already proved that he is an amazing director through his earlier works like Article 15 (one of my favourite flicks, everyone should watch it) , Pink..... इत्यादि . This flick is important and necessary in every sense of the word.
The Story
I'm not gonna explain the whole story coz:-
1. I'm a lazy lad.
2. They revealed it completely in the trailer.
3. The Title of the movie itself states :- "THAPPAD".
This film raises an issue which has often been turned a deaf ear to. Domestic Violence against Women is something that is something that is Universally Disgraceful and yet not Extinct. Tapsee Pannu's acting is splendid. Anubhav Sinha has done an amazing job at direction. The soundtrack compliments the screenplay. Every actor in the movie has done a great job. This movie is powerful and crucial. The film has very satisfying ending which gives closure for all characters. It's a must watch for every one.
So instead of sending another Gully Boy or Barfi (लोल), this year we should send something beautiful and important to the Oscars.
