The Alien movie universe was way ahead of its time. They Live (1988)


One of the most underrated science fiction movies of all time, They Live takes place in a universe in which aliens have already taken over Earth and they exist among us hidden in plain sight like Homo Sapiens. This is the kind of movie that makes you question the world around you. Anyone who has watched the movie cannot quickly get over it. This is one of the most memorable movies by John Carpenter. The Screenplay and the direction of this movie both make it look like a classic. When Nada (Roddy Piper) discovers a pair of sunglasses with which he can see the true nature of the world, occupied by skull faced aliens, he is determined to expose them to the Humans. The concept of this movie is thought provoking and timeless. This John Carpenter movie is a must watch for all Sci-Fi Fans out there.

The Fifth Element (1997)


In my opinion this movie was far better than most of the Star Wars movies. This movie contains a great plot, a futuristic chase, the girl from Resident Evil and a Bruce Willis in action. All these qualities make this movie a must watch. This movie is pretty enjoyable and entertaining. The special effects are awesome and feel alive till this day. This movie is probably on one of the top 10 Sci-Fi movies of the 90's decade. Directed by the critically acclaimed director Luc Besson, The Fifth Element is the story of Korben Dallas(Bruce Willis) in search of a Fifth Element to defeat evil forces that threaten Earth. Although the plot seems to be a little cliche' trust me this movie won't disappoint you and keep you engaged. The characters are lovable, plot is imaginative and adventurous and the visuals are gorgeous. This movie is very simple and lovable.

Robocop (1987)


This cult-classic cyberpunk is not only considered one the greatest science fiction movie but also one of the greatest action movies of the 20th century. This story of a Cyborg Cop fighting crime in a dystopian criminal Detroit, not only amazed the audience but was also equally loved by critics. This flick is probably the most memorable dark futuristic cyberpunk movie. The Special Effects in this movie are awesome considering the fact that it was made in the 80s. One of the best works by Paul Verhoeven, this movie is a must watch. This Action Packed Sci-Fi is very dark, intense and graphic which makes it a pretty enjoyable watch.

Dark City (1998)


Definitely the most most underrated movie on the list. Dark City was written and directed by Alex Proyas. With John, a murderer on the run, discovers that a alien cult called 'The Stranger' are Controlling the city, he sets out to save the city. This movie has Noir theme to it, but it is not exactly one. It has a dark themed Dystopian Science Fiction. The Plot is Imaginative, Unique and Gripping. It is a must Watch if you love 'The Matrix' and 'Blade Runner.' A bonus of amazing visuals make the cinematic experience even better. The premise is thought provoking and will make you think about it for a long period of time. This Flick should receive more recognition and praise.
